The Kingdom-Driven Family

Building a Home That Serves Christ and His Kingdom

office-hours2Christian education is the fundamental issue that needs to be confronted in our day by those who profess Christ. Too many within the church who complain about the status quo fail to realize that by handing over their children to government schools, they are the problem. The truncated gospel they follow somehow allows them to sacrifice the future of their family, society, and nation, as they guarantee that their children will be compromised when it comes to knowing and being obedient to the law-word of God. This abdication of parental responsibility is what has allowed the foundations of a nation founded on Christianity to become overrun by hedonism, paganism, and statism. The Scripture asks the rhetorical question, “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Ps. 11:3)

While this is a familiar verse, the entirety of the Psalm (with my emphasis in italics), is not so often quoted or known.

In the Lord put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?
For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.
If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord‘s throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.
The
Lord trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.
Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.
For the righteous
Lord loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.(Ps. 11:1–7)

One of the first things Christian parents/families must do is to stop sacrificing their children to a statist, ungodly educational environment, where the name of Jesus is not proclaimed and where those who speak it are censored. They must reject teachers and textbooks that perpetuate the lies of evolution, the Big Bang theory, gender neutrality, and a myriad of other misrepresentations and deceptions. God’s Word makes clear that the responsibility for education lies with parents:

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. (Deut. 6:4–7)

For those families already obeying God by providing a Christian education, my goal is to support you in your effort, and provide mentorship to help you stay the course. For those who realize they are disobeying God and being faithless in their duties as parents, I would like to assist you in rectifying this situation. In order to eliminate location and distance as deterrents, I will be holding regular online office hours beginning on February 21, 2017, and every Tuesday evening thereafter at 6:00 Pacific time. If you are interested in participating, you will need either a phone or internet connection (or both), and to register in advance to participate. The online meetings will be conducted in a question/answer format, and you may submit your questions ahead of time.
